DAF Trucks Flanders celebrates 50 years

50 years of DAF production in Belgium - Westerlo - Vlaanderen - about 1967

DAF Trucks Flanders is celebrating 50 years and has grown into a leading production facility which has benefited from 600 million euro in investments over the past 15 years. More than ever, DAF Trucks has full confidence in the future of its production facilities in Belgium: “With our continuous investment in DAF Trucks Vlaanderen, DAF demonstrates its confidence in the future of its plant in Belgium,” said Harrie Schippers, President of DAF Trucks N.V.

The truck manufacturer has invested 100 million euro in Westerlo to build a brand new cab paint shop, whose construction kick-started last year. According to DAF Trucks, this will be the most modern facility of its kind in Europe and will increase production capacity of the cab factory by 50%. The cab paint shop could also play an important role in DAF’s further growth in Europe and beyond.

DAF Trucks Flanders works on the principle that there is always room for further improvement and that its employees know better than anyone how their jobs can be done even better, more intelligently and more efficiently. “Thanks to their commitment and dedication, we are able to build trucks that lead the market in terms of reliability, comfort and quality,” said Harrie Schippers. Some 2,200 employees currently work at DAF Trucks Flanders.
